I would describe Painter Essentials as Corel’s entry-level digital painting program. They are currently offering the budget-minded Corel Painter Essentials 7. (Yea capitalism!) Heck, even Corel has gotten in on this action. The great thing is that these alternatives also come at a wide range of prices to suit your budget.
The ones that come to mind are Sai Paint Tools, Krita, and Clip Studio Paint Pro. Not to worry! There are plenty of alternatives out there. But not everyone has the cash to even purchase an older version of Painter.
Corel Painter has been the standard-bearer for over a decade.
